Locations We've Been

Fort Benton

We are fortunate to have formed a great relationship with Fort Betnon Historical fort and the individuals that run and maintain the fort. We have set up living history events and weekends at Fort Benton which was home to Company H. You can come check us out June 25-28, 2015 during Fort Benton's Summer Celebration and the 150th Arrival of US troops to Fort Benton in 1865.

Fort Caspar (Platte Bridge Station)

Fort Casper was originally named Platte Bridge Station and was occupied by the US military in 1862 by the 11th Ohio Volunteer Cavalry to maintain the transcontinental telegraph and  "handle" the native american threat to the telegraph and somewhat of the overall safety of those traveling along the overland trails.

Custer's Last Stand

In June, the 1st U.S. sets up a living history encampment to showcase the military life of soldiers sent west at the end of the Civil War. Following that, the 1st U.S. trades in their infantry garb for Cavalary garb and follows General Custer on his last ride. This year the reenactment has been cancelled and we look forward to seeing you in 2016.

Civil War Events

To give our members a chance to feel what the power of an army felt like, the 1st U.S. goes east at least once every 2-3 years to participate in a large scale reenactment. The regiment is looking at going to either Virginia or New Mexico in 2016 for an event.

Fort Missoula

Join members of the 1st USVI as they tell the stories of the men that are buried in the Fort Missoula Post Cemetary. Event runs 12-2 June 7, 2015. Photos to come following the event.

A new start for the 1st US as we embark on a western campaign and begin a living history event at the Rocky Mountain Museum of Military History and Fort Missoula. Come out from the west to see life during the Civil War brought to life!

Pictures to come following the event!
